The following is the complete interview (nearly 60 minutes) with Walter Hooper. It was recording in his home on July 20, 2016. As you likely know, Walter has been the central figure since the death of C.S. Lewis in making sure Lewis' writing that were published in his life were reprinted and also Hooper has edited the majority of material from Lewis that was previously unpublished. His C.S. (Re-Post) Silver Chair Movie Announcement 2013 (2015r)
Saturday Jul 23, 2016
Saturday Jul 23, 2016
In this repeat: Back in 2013 a movie version for The Silver Chair was announced. Here's a discussion about that.
Back in late 2013 it was officially announced that The Silver Chair would be the next book made in the series of Narnia movies. Around the time I had been producing a special series of podcasts with the help of Paul Martin from NarniaFans.com that promoted the reading of the Narnia books. As a result I gather him and several Lewis scholars together to discuss this news. Since that time not much progress has been made on the movie, other than a recent video from Douglas Gresham stating the script is near completion. This lead me to realized that much of what was said by my guests in October 2013 is still relevant. Those guests were Drs. Bruce Edwards, Charlie Starr, Crystal Hurd and Devin Brown, along with Paul Martin.

Friday Jul 22, 2016
Friday Jul 22, 2016
In this repeat: An in-depth look at Lewis and Philosophy.
Lewis is known mostly as the author of the Narnia stories and as a defender of the Christian faith. Few people know that he taught Philosophy before joining the English faculty at Oxford University. Dr. Adam Barkman is very much aware of this and he explores this fact and more in C.S. Lewis & Philosophy as a Way of Life. Dr. Barkman is the Associate Professor Of Philosophy at Redeemer College University in Ontario, Canada. His book is a complete look at the philosophical development of Lewis and the various views he held within specific areas of philosophy.

Thursday Jul 21, 2016
In this repeat: A resource to help you study the works of C.S. Lewis.
Back in 2012 I spoke with Allyson Wieland about a free online resource to help you reflect on the works of C.S. Lewis. Since I moved my podcast hosting in August, 2014 I haven't shared it again, so I figured it was about time to. The website is called "CSL Book Club"and she started it originally to just help her local C.S. Lewis group. Since this interview I also had her on the show for my occasional "Essay Chat" series. The link to the once of the discussions can be found below.

(Re-Post) Bandersnatch (Diana Glyer)
Wednesday Jul 20, 2016
Wednesday Jul 20, 2016
In this repeat: A conversation with Diana Glyer BEFORE Bandersnatch was released..
2015 has seen the release of several books on, or related to, the Inklings. Are you ready for the most unique among them? Bandersnatch: C. S. Lewis, J. R. R. Tolkien, and the Creative Collaboration of the Inklings is a forthcoming title (at the time of this post) due out by the end of November. William O'Flaherty caught up with Dr. Diana Glyer in late March at the annual CSLIS conference and chatted with her about the book. It's an adaptation of her previous book about the Inklings, but this one focuses on the creative and collaborative process among the friends and challenges all to become better writers. The book is complemented with original illustrations by James Owen. It was hoped to released this interview months ago, but only recently did the book become available for pre-order; so follow the link below to make sure you get it as soon as it is released!

(Re-Post) C.S. Lewis and His Circle (Roger White)
Tuesday Jul 19, 2016
Tuesday Jul 19, 2016
In this repeat: A various authors work with writings from the Oxford C.S. Lewis Society.
It's been years since there has been a book featuring contributions from so many people who knew C.S. Lewis. That's the treat in store for you if you get a copy of C.S. Lewis and His Circle, it's a collection of essays and memories presented at the Oxford C.S. Lewis Society. The group began in 1982 and they have had many speakers who were personal friends with Lewis. I recently chatted with Roger White, one of the editors, about this collection that is new for 2015. The addresses are arranged into two main sections: Essays and Memoirs. The Essays section is divided further into “Philosophy and Theology” and “Literature.” And the Memoirs are subdivided into ones about Lewis and then material that is more about his Inklings friends.

(Re-Post) Essay Chat 19 – Screwtape Proposes a Toast (Brenton Dickieson)
Monday Jul 18, 2016
Monday Jul 18, 2016
“Screwtape Proposes a Toast” is an essay that is indirectly a follow-up to the successful book The Screwtape Letters. Brenton Dickieson joins William O’Flaherty for an essay chat on this insightful piece that Wormwood never got to hear. It was first published in The Saturday Evening Post in 1959 (see below for a link to read it online) before being reprinted several times. The best place to get in print is either in The World’s Last Night or some editions of The Screwtape Letters. This is part of an occasional series exploring a single essay by Lewis to encourage you to read (or re-read) it and other essays by him that are often neglected.

(Re-Post) Joy and Poetic Imagination (Dr. Stephen Thorson)
Sunday Jul 17, 2016
Sunday Jul 17, 2016
In this repeat: My last new show...about Lewis and the impact and differences between and Barfield.
Before Lewis embraced the Christian faith he had a lengthy debate with one of his friends, Owen Barfield about what would be considered involving subtle metaphysical and philosophical distinctions. It became know as the "Great War." These disagreements impacted Lewis a lot, but this topic isn't often explored with much detail in biographies. Joy and Poetic Imagination: Understanding C. S. Lewis's "Great War" with Owen Barfield and its Significance for Lewis's Conversion and Writings is a book by Dr. Stephen Thorson that examines the issue thoroughly. The following podcast is a brief interview with Stephen as well as a short talk he gave at the 2016 Taylor Colloquium.
