As this podcast is released it's the 75th anniversary of the very first letter from Screwtape. In this repeat: The last "new" show I posted this week that was actually an earlier program from 2012 that hadn't been shared on my PodBean hosting.
This book interview is from 2012, but it had not yet been featured here since changing the podcast audio hosting. It is a conversation with Dr. Charlie W. Starr and his book Light: C.S. Lewis's First and Final Short Story. It tells the story of how a manuscript surfaced that appeared to be a different version of a short story called "The Man Born Blind." The book reveals the results of his investigation and includes several interpretations of "Light." The interview was recorded at the 2012 C.S. Lewis Colloquium at Taylor University.

In this repeat: Here's the talk I did three months ago at Taylor elaborating on a few more of Screwtape's "preferred method."
I just gave the following short talk on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at the Taylor University Colloquium. My brief presentation was part of a variety of academic papers that was presented there. In it I explore the 13th through the 17th letters from The Screwtape Letters to reveal where an often overlooked "preferred method" of the devils is suggested. Previously I spoke on the initial twelve letters (see link below) when I gave a keynote address at the Inklings Fellowship Weekend Retreat at Montreat College. The material from both is adapted and an expansion of material from my first book, C.S. Lewis Goes to Hell: A Companion and Study Guide to The Screwtape Letters. While I do give a summary of the unique aspects of my book, the main focus of the talk is about the devils' "preferred method" to keep us from living up to God's potential. Visit my website to contact me about giving this talk or a three or four part presentation on all of the places this method is mentioned or alluded to.

(Re-Post) Shining Light on Screwtape’s Darkest Secret (William O'Flaherty)
Tuesday Sep 20, 2016
Tuesday Sep 20, 2016
In this repeat: Here is a talk I gave in early April, 2016 about a running theme in The Screwtape Letters.
I just gave the following talk on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at the Inklings Fellowship Weekend Retreat that was held in Montreat, NC at Montreat College. It was also the public debut of my first book C.S. Lewis Goes to Hell: A Companion and Study Guide to The Screwtape Letters. While I do give a summary of the unique aspects of my book, the main focus of the talk is about the devils' secret weapon that is mentioned in nearly all of the letters. My book just list them, but this presentation provides more details and gives a practical application to one's life. Visit my website to contact me about giving this talk or a three or four part presentation on all of the places this weapon is mentioned or alluded to.

(Re-Post) Medieval Wisdom for Modern Christians (Dr. Chris R. Armstrong)
Sunday Sep 18, 2016
Sunday Sep 18, 2016
In this repeat: My last new show...an interview with Dr. Chris Armstrong about his book Medieval Wisdom for Modern Christians.
What's the first thing that comes to your mind when you think about the Middle Ages? Maybe it would be better to ask when was the last time you even thought about the Ages? Probably not too recently. However, Dr. Chris R. Armstrong believes it's very important to consider this period of time. In fact, it's an age that C.S. Lewis was very familiar with and also encouraged others to consider. In Medieval Wisdom for Modern Christians Dr. Armstrong details a variety of areas every Christian should be open to learning about that can enhance one's spiritual growth.

(Re-Post) The Screwtape Letters: Annotated Edition (2016R)
Saturday Sep 10, 2016
Saturday Sep 10, 2016
In this repeat: Another reminder about a previous interview about The Screwtape Letters: Annotated Edition.
Back in 2014 I first released this interview with Paul McCusker about The Screwtape Letters: Annotated Edition that had only been release a few months before that show was posted. I had yet to share this conversation again since moving my podcast hosting to Podbean, so it has been unavailable for awhile. This year (2016) is the 75th anniversary of the letters first appearing in a small church publication before they came out in book form in the UK in 1942. So, it seem especially important to share interview again because of this fact. Learn how Paul became involved in this project and what information you will and won't see in it.

Friday Sep 09, 2016
Friday Sep 09, 2016
In this repeat: The first news from last December (2015) about the discovery of a lost recording from Lewis.
SOME ARE HAVING TROUBLE PLAYING THE FILE. IF YOU DO TRY THIS LINK:
Incredible news of a LOST recording of C.S. Lewis was mentioned as part of an upcoming interview with Dr. Hal Poe about An Inklings Week in Oxford. During the conversation it was revealed that Christianity Today will soon post an article about Hal's discovery of a previously unknown recording C.S. Lewis did before his radio talks on the BBC. When the article for Christianity Today post I'll post a link below. Also, be sure to catch the entire interview with Hal (and guest Dr. Don King) about the retreat in Oxford where you can hear the actual recording that was found. Listen to the portion of the interview about the lost recording in this special advanced excerpt.

(Re-Post) Ruth Pitter Biography (Dr. Don King)
Sunday Sep 04, 2016
Sunday Sep 04, 2016
In this repeat: The last new episode - Don King talks about his biography on Ruth Pitter, a friend of Lewis.
The women surrounding C.S. Lewis is often a mystery to even the serious reader of his works. Apart from Lewis' mother and wife, Ruth Pitter stands as one of the most significant women in his life. You might know she was a poet, but did you know how much she helped Lewis with his poetry? Also, was there more than a friendship interest between her and Lewis? Dr. Don King explores her life in Hunting the Unicorn: A Critical Biography of Ruth Pitter. There has been a recent interest in exploring the females in Lewis' life so it seemed a good time to learn more about her. Dr. Crystal Hurd fills in as guest host to interview Don.
