IN THIS REPEAT: The latest (3rd) episode of "200 Seconds in Hell"
Practicing humility can be a very humbling experience, one that might just lead to pride! At least that's what Wormwood is partly told he should try to make happen with his patient in The Screwtape Letters. In this third episode of "200 Seconds in Hell with C.S. Lewis" you'll be reminded about some of the ways the devils try to twist humility to make it a weapon for their gain.
2017 is the 75th anniversary of when The Screwtape Letters was first published. So, why not read it again! And consider getting my enhanced study guide to help you enjoy it even more. Get a free 20 page PDF sample of my book via ScrewtapeCompanion.com.

(Re-Post) - America Discovers C.S. Lewis (Dr. K. Alan Snyder)
Sunday Jan 29, 2017
Sunday Jan 29, 2017
IN THIS REPEAT: The last new interview I did; about the book America Discovers C.S. Lewis by Dr. Alan Snyder.
If you live in the United States, then you are probably not too surprised to know that a lot of people here know about C.S. Lewis. Did you know it was first an American who helped to tell the world about him? That's just a small part of what you'll find in a book called America Discovers C.S. Lewis by history professor, Dr. Alan Snyder. Alan also explores the contrast between a young C.S. Lewis who had negative views about the U.S. and a more mature Lewis who married an American, along with telling about a variety of individuals who have been profoundly impacted by his life and writings.

(Re-Post) C.S. Lewis Society of California
Friday Jan 20, 2017
Friday Jan 20, 2017
C.S. Lewis societies have existed for a number of years. They range in size from a few dozen or less members to hundreds of members. Some have been around for a short time and others have decades of longevity behind them. Based out of Oakland in the U.S., the C.S. Lewis Society of California has been around for many years. It is an independent, non-profit, Christian, educational and cultural organization interested in events, publications, and other developments that advance deeper understanding of the enduring philosophical, cultural, historical, literary, spiritual, social, and economic issues of mankind. William O'Flaherty recently spoke with David Theroux, the president of the group.

Friday Jan 20, 2017
Friday Jan 20, 2017
Did you know there is an official website for C.S. Lewis? If you've only casually stop by it then you may have thought its sole purpose was to sell books from him. While that IS the main purpose, if you look carefully you'll see there's a special blog available through the site that features a lot of interesting articles. So, to help you learn about this part of the site Zach Kincaid is my guest to discuss it, as well as some about the official Lewis group on Facebook.

In this repeat: Here's the talk I did at Taylor elaborating on a few more of Screwtape's "preferred method."
I just gave the following short talk on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at the Taylor University Colloquium. My brief presentation was part of a variety of academic papers that was presented there. In it I explore the 13th through the 17th letters from The Screwtape Letters to reveal where an often overlooked "preferred method" of the devils is suggested. Previously I spoke on the initial twelve letters (see link below) when I gave a keynote address at the Inklings Fellowship Weekend Retreat at Montreat College. The material from both is adapted and an expansion of material from my first book, C.S. Lewis Goes to Hell: A Companion and Study Guide to The Screwtape Letters. While I do give a summary of the unique aspects of my book, the main focus of the talk is about the devils' "preferred method" to keep us from living up to God's potential. Visit my website to contact me about giving this talk or a three or four part presentation on all of the places this method is mentioned or alluded to.

(Re-Post) 200 Seconds in Hell with C.S. Lewis - Episode 1
Monday Jan 16, 2017
Monday Jan 16, 2017
In this repeat: The debut episode of my new short-term podcast series focusing on The Screwtape Letters.
Welcome to the premier episode of the podcast "200 Seconds in Hell with C.S. Lewis." It focuses on highlighting the classic book The Screwtape Letters. The first show, however, serves more as an introduction to the type of information that will normally be covered. Being a podcast you need to click the link above to hear it. For the moment I'm including it on my All About Jack podcast feed, so you can follow it either on my Podbean page or via my iTunes feeds (see links below).
This series will be short-term. That is, while I'm not sure how many episodes will be done, it won't go on forever.
2017 is the 75th anniversary of when The Screwtape Letters was first published. So, why not read it again!

(Re-Post) 2016 Podcast Recap
Sunday Jan 15, 2017
Sunday Jan 15, 2017
In this repeat: My recent 2016 recap.
During 2016 I shared a variety of shows on my All About Jack podcast. While less than thirty were brand new, close to fifteen I shared had not been available previously at the location where I now have my audio files hosted. Below you'll find a list of the programs that weren't tied to just 2016 (that is, events held during that year). In the past two years I did a two-part show that shared brief excerpts from nearly all of the totally new show, but frankly I just didn't have the time to do that. So, be sure to look over the list to discover podcasts you might have missed or want to hear again. Additionally, in 2016 I began to post in my iTunes and Podbean feed older shows, or reminders of programs from the current year. What you'll hear in this podcast is a couple of highlights from three shows that showcase the variety of programs I had.

(Re-Post) Shining Light on Screwtape’s Darkest Secret (William O'Flaherty)
Saturday Jan 14, 2017
Saturday Jan 14, 2017
In this repeat: Here is a talk I gave in early April, 2016 about a running theme in The Screwtape Letters.
I just gave the following talk on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at the Inklings Fellowship Weekend Retreat that was held in Montreat, NC at Montreat College. It was also the public debut of my first book C.S. Lewis Goes to Hell: A Companion and Study Guide to The Screwtape Letters. While I do give a summary of the unique aspects of my book, the main focus of the talk is about the devils' secret weapon that is mentioned in nearly all of the letters. My book just list them, but this presentation provides more details and gives a practical application to one's life. Visit my website to contact me about giving this talk or a three or four part presentation on all of the places this weapon is mentioned or alluded to.
