IN THIS REPEAT: An interview about a series of videos to help you understand Letters to Malcolm.

How familiar are with Letters to Malcolm: Chiefly on Prayer? Rev. David Beckmann has studied this book a lot and given a variety of talks on it. Now he has pulled together that experience and put it into a series of online videos that was filmed in and around Oxford. That's why he's my guest on this new All About Jack podcast. Learn more about this eight-part series and where to go to watch the first session for free. Beckmann is an Anglican priest, recent director of the C. S. Lewis Study Center at the Kilns, and Moderator of the CS Lewis Society of Chattanooga.

(Re-Post) Irrigating Deserts (Dr. Joel Heck)
Sunday Aug 13, 2017
Sunday Aug 13, 2017
IN THIS REPEAT: A show about Lewis' view on education with an interview with Dr. Joel Heck.
Back in 2012 I first released this podcast, however I've never shared it again since moving my hosting to Podbean in late 2014. So, for most of you this will be an interview you haven't heard before now. The author, Dr. Joel Heck, was featured not long ago for a book that just came out in 2017 (link below). Irrigating Deserts: C.S. Lewis on Education is the main focus of this conversation, but a few other topics are explored. Interestingly, Dr. Heck referred to the (then) forthcoming biography by Dr. Alister McGrath, which was released in 2013 and I did an interview with Dr. McGrath on it (link below).

(Re-post) WRL02 - Dymer
Saturday Aug 12, 2017
Saturday Aug 12, 2017
IN THIS REPEAT; From my series about why you should read Lewis; this one about his poem Dymer.
This podcast focuses on one of the lesser known works by C.S. Lewis; a long narrative poem entitled Dymer. This show is part of an occasional series indirectly begun in 2016 and officially kicked-off this year, 2017. The series is called "Why Read Lewis," and the aim is to encourage you to read or re-read works written by Lewis. Today's program features just three individuals reflecting and/or summarizing Dymer. They are Dr. Jerry Root, Dr. Crystal Hurd and Dr. Don King.
Dymer was first published in 1926, prior to Lewis becoming a Christian and was later reprinted in 1950.

(Re-Post) WRL01 - The Last Battle
Thursday Aug 10, 2017
Thursday Aug 10, 2017
IN THIS REPEAT: The first official show in the occassional series Why Read C.S. Lewis. This one is on THE LAST BATTLE.
This podcast focuses on The Last Battle and is part of a new series that I "accidentally" began in 2016. It was then that I gathered together a handful of individuals giving a testimony on a particular work by C.S. Lewis. It started with the fact that The Screwtape Letters first came out in weekly installments in 1941 and I wanted to honor this landmark and encourage people to read or re-read that book. Later I realized that it would be fruitful to spotlight EACH of Lewis' works that way. So, I began to record a variety of individuals on a few books that had similar landmark anniversaries last year. This project was delayed and then I realized there was no need to select works based on a particular anniversary of publication.
It may seem odd to begin a spotlight on one of the Narnia books by presenting testimonies on The Last Battle. This title was selected initially because last year was the 60th anniversary of its release. So, I already had enough people recorded to release the show and thought why not go ahead and share it! On the show today (in order of appearance) is: Christin Ditchfield Lazo, Dennis Beets, Gina Dalfonzo, Dr. Holly Ordway and Dr. Michael Ward.

(Re-post) Introducing Why Read Lewis
Wednesday Aug 09, 2017
Wednesday Aug 09, 2017
IN THIS REPEAT: A new series on why reading Lewis himself is important. This debut features six different experts.
************************
Welcome to a new occasional podcast series designed to encourage you to read books that C.S. Lewis wrote (or edited). Even those who have read a variety of works by him are surprised to learn he wrote more than forty during his lifetime. Additionally, there are numerous books (mostly essay collections) created after his death. As you are likely aware, Lewis wrote in a variety of styles or genres. How many have you read? This new podcast will usually focus on a SINGLE work by Lewis with between three to five individuals sharing thoughts about it. However, because this episode introduces the series, it has comments on six DIFFERENT titles (as noted in the picture). Dr. Michael Ward, Brenton Dickieson, Sørina Higgins, Dr. Crystal Hurd, Dr. Jerry Root and Mark Neal share in this introductory show.

Exploring C.S. Lewis Misquotes and Misconceptions - Episode 1
Tuesday Aug 08, 2017
Tuesday Aug 08, 2017
If you have been on social media over the last few years then you have probably seen a quotation attributed to Lewis from someone that you wondered if he actually wrote. That happen to me time and time again; so much that I began to collect them as I researched whether or not Lewis wrote the quote in question. That led to a blog series examining each quotation (see link below). More recently I began collecting information related to the life of Lewis and his writings that are misunderstood and started a blog series on this (link also below). This led me to considering what you now see, the first of a six-part episode chatting about these topics. This initial show provides an overview of all the subjects address in the other programs. Guest host for today is Dr. Crystal Hurd.

You know that the devils try to be sneaky and trick you, right? Did you know they might make you a glutton without eating any food? It's what Screwtape calls "gluttony of Delicacy" in the seventeenth letter. Just what is that? Learn all about it in this new short podcast that explores the themes in The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis. Don't forget to check out the other episodes by following the links below.

Sunday Aug 06, 2017
Sunday Aug 06, 2017
IN THIS REPEAT: My last new show which was about The Great Divorce book that Lewis wrote.
This podcast, part of an occasional feature to encourage you to read material from Lewis, focuses on one of the shortest works by him (excluding essays, of course). The Great Divorce was first released in weekly installments in The Guardian before published in 1946. If you have never read this fictional work then you will be pleasantly surprised about how much truth can be learned from the experiences of the characters! The guests sharing their thoughts are (in order of appearance): Dennis Beets, Gina DalFonzo, James Motter, and Brenton Dickieson.
