(Re-Post) CSL - Life, Works and Legacy pt. 2 (Dr. Bruce Edwards)

00:0000:00

IN THIS REPEAT: The second of a two-part interview with the late Dr. Bruce Edwards about a four-volume set he edited.

CSLLifeWorksLegacypt2.jpgThis is the second of a two-part interview that William O’Flaherty had with Dr. Bruce Edwards about C.S. Lewis: Life, Works, and Legacy, a four-volume set of books that came out in 2007. It a title many are unaware of because its main target is libraries. However, there are frequently used copies available from Amazon that are reasonably priced (see link below). In this final chat about this invaluable work, Dr. Edwards focuses on the last two volumes. The third deals with Lewis as “Apologist, Philosopher, and Theologian” and the final book explores  Lewis as “Scholar, Teacher, and Public Intellectual.”

(Re-Post) CSL - Life, Works and Legacy pt. 1 (Dr. Bruce Edwards)

00:0000:00

IN THIS REPEAT: One of the last interviews with the late Dr. Bruce Edwards...the first of a two part show on a four-volume set.

CSLLifeWorksLegacypt1.jpgBack in 2007 a four-volume set entitled C.S. Lewis: Life, Works, and Legacy was released. Dr. Bruce Edwards edited this ambitious effort. William O’Flaherty caught up with him recently to discuss this reference work that is often overlooked because it is priced for libraries and not the general public. In this podcast Dr. Edwards provides some insight into how this 1,400 page effort came to be, along with giving some highlights of what you will find in volumes one and two. The first book focus on “An Examined Life” and the second details with Lewis as “Fantasist, Mythmaker, and Poet.”

(Re-Post) Honoring the Legacy of Dr. Bruce Edwards

00:0000:00

IN THIS REPEAT: Remember the late Dr. Bruce Edwards who died in 2015.

BrucewaswithWilliam.jpg
As this is posted most of you who are familiar with Dr. Bruce Edwards know he died unexpected on October 28, 2015. I learned of the news while attend the C.S. Lewis Foundation's Fall Retreat at Camp Allen. Many attending were close friends (professionally and personally) and so I records some brief thoughts with them. Then I caught up with a couple other people I knew were well acquainted with him to have them share some reflections as well. I'm sure I missed several who knew Bruce and had been on my show previously. Speaking of being on All About Jack, Bruce was a frequent guest and even this year he had been on a couple of two-part episodes (they are listed below).  In additional to the link for this podcast, be sure to listen to the memorial service and the final podcast that Bruce did from his own online show.

(Re-Post) EC10r - Meditation in a Toolshed (Dr. Bruce Edwards)

00:0000:00

IN THIS REPEAT: Here's another essay chat I did a few years ago.

EC10--MeditationinaToolshed.jpg

"Meditation in a Toolshed" was the tenth essay chat William O'Flaherty did back in 2012. Dr. Bruce Edwards, Professor Emeritus of English and Africana Studies at Bowling Green State University in Ohio, is the guest for this discussion.  "Meditation in a Toolshed" is a fairly short essay that is a favorite among Lewis scholars. It is best found in God in the Dock essay collection. Learn about the background to this shorter work from Lewis and a few of the key points made in it that will either introduce to this great piece or remind you about it.
