Saturday Jul 28, 2018
Saturday Jul 28, 2018
IN THIS REPEAT: My 2013 interview with Colin Duriez on his biography on Lewis.
Colin Duriez is what you might call "an expert to the experts." He is among the top writers/scholars on not only C.S. Lewis, but also J.R.R. Tolkien. Just releasing now is his book C.S. Lewis: A Biography of Friendship. William O'Flaherty spoke with him about this title and why he chose to portray the life of Lewis through his friends.

Saturday Jul 21, 2018
Saturday Jul 21, 2018
IN THIS REPEAT: Interview with Colin Duriez about his book The Oxford Inklings.
Colin Duriez has written about C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien many times over his writing career as an expert on the two. But only this year (2015) has he come out with a book exploring the two of them along with a group of other friends who often met twice a week. The Oxford Inklings takes a look at the origins of this group that is often falsely called a "writer's group." In this chat with William O'Flaherty, he explains why it was much more while giving insightful details about the lives of the key members of this influential circle.

Monday Jul 16, 2018
Monday Jul 16, 2018
IN THIS REPEAT: My most recent new episode about a talk Corey Latta gave in June 2018.
- - - -
Dr. Corey Latta, author of C.S. Lewis and the Art of Writing, gave a talk at The Marion E. Wade Center during the recent 2018 C.S. Lewis Institute Summer Conference. "Writing Outside of the Inner Ring" is the revised title he told me when giving me permission to share his presentation. While sharing candidly about his own experiences, he uses Lewis's essay, "The Inner Ring" and several letters from 1930 to talk about motivation for writing (and other creative endeavors) and how to stay focused during times of discouragement.

Friday Jul 13, 2018
IN THIS REPEAT: My last short talk (paper) at Taylor University...it's about my book, The Misquotable C.S. Lewis.
---------
I gave the following short talk on Friday, June 1, 2018 at the Taylor University Colloquium. My brief presentation was part of a variety of academic papers that were presented. The full title of my talk was Surprised By Misquotes: Unexpected Findings from The Misquotable C. S. Lewis. In it, I share some of the unusual details from my years of researching quotations credited to Lewis that he did not write. This talk, however, only gives a small snapshot of what is in the book.

(Re-Post) The Faun's Bookshelf (Dr. Charlie Starr)
Sunday Jul 08, 2018
Sunday Jul 08, 2018
IN THIS REPEAT: An interview about The Faun's Bookself by Dr. Charlie Starr.. A new book that releases THIS month.
The Faun's Bookshelf is an interesting title that explores, as part of the subtitle reveals, "Why Myth Matters." Dr. Charlie Starr, the author, uses books C.S. Lewis mentions on Mr. Tumnus's bookshelf as the framework to examine what myth means and how it teaches us about reality. This interviewed was recorded on the campus of Taylor University the day before the 11th Frances W. Ewbank Colloquium, where he gave one of the keynote talks. Even though Charlie goes into a lot of deal about his book in this interview, you will learn even more about myth by purchasing his book (direct link given below). Speak thanks to Dr. Crystal Hurd who voiced the endorsement given at the start and also an except from Charlie's book.

Thursday Jul 05, 2018
Thursday Jul 05, 2018
IN THIS REPEAT: An interview from 2017 about a book from Dr. Corey Latta entitled C.S. Lewis and the Art of Writing.
You obviously know that C.S. Lewis was a writer, but did you know that he wrote a good deal of advice on writing? That's the focus of this podcast interview about a book called C.S. Lewis and the Art of Writing. The author is Dr. Corey Latta and in this book he's broken that advice down into fifty bit-size chapters that also gives some optional exercises to help you put that advice into practice. The book has a biographical tone to it, so even if you are not a writer you can still enjoy it. Plus, some of the tips on writing can be applied to other creative endeavors.

(Re-Post) Deeper Magic (Dr. Donald T. Williams)
Saturday Jun 30, 2018
Saturday Jun 30, 2018
IN THIS REPEAT: My Interview with Donald T. Williams that explores the theology of C.S. Lewis.
While C.S. Lewis is known for being outspoken about his Christian faith, it's difficult to find specifics about what he believed in some aspects of Theology. This is not unusual because he wasn't a Theologian, even though he did manage to help many understand various theological issues. Fortunately, a new book by Dr. Donald T. Williams, entitled Deeper Magic: The Theology Behind the Writings of C.S. Lewis tackles the topic. This podcast interview provides an overview of his book that not only summarizes Lewis' views but also gives an analysis of them. Dr. Williams has previously been on All About Jack with a couple of podcasts featuring two different talks that related to the subject.
