An Evening with C.S. LEWIS (David Payne)
Monday Sep 27, 2021
Monday Sep 27, 2021
Many people wish they could meet someone famous like C.S. Lewis in order to learn about their life firsthand. But, because he died back in 1963 (on the same day U.S. President Kennedy was killed) that's not possible, or is it? The following is a podcast interview with David Payne who has portrayed Lewis on stage for over 20 years. "An Evening with C.S. Lewis," is actually only one of several plays David has produced (follow the link to his main website to learn about the others). David covers Lewis's life in an entertaining way and has done over 1,000 performances of the one-man show.

Wednesday Sep 22, 2021
Wednesday Sep 22, 2021
IN THIS REPEAT: The DVD/Blu-Ray of Tolkien is OUT! Here are some reflections on just the movie release with Diana Glyer and Brenton Dickieson.
In May 2019 a biopic on J.R.R. Tolkien, simply entitled Tolkien was released. While there has been no shortage of opinions on the film, I wanted to add some thoughts on it for those who follow this podcast. Two guests join me to share a hopeful perspective about the movie while acknowledging its shortcomings. They are Dr. Diana Glyer, a respected scholar on Tolkien and Lewis, and Brenton Dickieson who is a Lewis scholar nearing his completion of Ph.D. studies on Lewis.

(Re-Post) 17r Essay Chat - Horrid Red Things (Dr. Charlie Starr)
Wednesday Sep 15, 2021
Wednesday Sep 15, 2021
IN THIS REPEAT: Here's an essay chat with Dr. Charlie Starr about the shorter work entitled HORRID RED THINGS.
After beginning an occasional series examining a single essay from Lewis in 2012 and doing more than a dozen that year, I ended up doing a lot fewer since that time. The following discussion with Dr. Charlie Starr was first released in April, 2013. It’s on the essay “Horrid Red Things.” The hope is that by listening to this essay chat you will want to read or re-read it. “Horrid Red Things” can be most easily found in a collection called God in the Dock. Charlie has been on several other shows since this essay chat. Be sure to check the links below to hear the other programs.

Friday Sep 10, 2021
IN THIS REPEAT: The book, A COMPASS FOR DEEP HEAVEN is discussed with the those involved in the project.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
C.S. Lewis wrote a trilogy of books BEFORE his beloved Narnia series that many overlook. Whether you've read them or not, you'll want to listen to this podcast interview about a book that wants to help you better understand Out of the Silent Planet, Perelandra, and That Hideous Strength. Dr. Diana Glyer returns as a guest for the All About Jack podcast to talk about, A Compass for Deep Heaven, a title she edited with Julianne Johnson (who is also on the show). Additionally, Rachel M. Roller, who wrote one of the essays, is a guest as well. While the book began as a project for students at Azusa Pacific University, it matured to be a resource everyone can enjoy.
