Here's more about the secret weapon the devils try to use again us. Last time I introduced the topic by mentioning where it is told about in the fourth letter by Screwtape. In this seventh episode of "200 Seconds" I point out where it is mention is some way in the first and second letter. Don't forget to check out the other episodes by following the links below.

Friday Jan 04, 2019
IN THIS REPEAT: Episode six of 200 Seconds in Hell. It's about a secret the devils hope you don't know.
What is the "best tool" in the Devil's toolbox? You might be surprised that it is the opposite of what you think it might be! Screwtape reveals the secret outright in the fourth letter, but the method is mentioned either directly or indirectly in 75% of the letters. This sixth episode of "200 Seconds in Hell with C.S. Lewis" points you to the information told to Wormwood to help you overcome the schemes of the devils.

Wednesday Jan 02, 2019
IN THIS REPEAT: The 5th episode of 200 Seconds series to encourage you to read The Screwtape Letters.
Democracy is a very important word here on Earth and in Hell. So much so, that the devils want to create confusion about what the word actually means. That's why their philological department is hard at work to keep the real meaning out of our minds. When you listen to the fifth episode of "200 Seconds in Hell with C.S. Lewis" you'll learn some of what Screwtape thinks about how the practical meaning of democracy can be twisted.

Monday Dec 31, 2018
Monday Dec 31, 2018
IN THIS REPEAT: The forth episode of my short-term series that encourages you to read The Screwtape Letters.
Do words matter? Of course they do! That's why Screwtape tells Wormwood to either suggest more negative sounding terms or expressions that people associate with things they don't like. Words like "complacency," "unselfishness" and "Puritanical" are help for Hell's purposes. In this four episode of "200 Seconds in Hell with C.S. Lewis" you'll be reminded about some of the ways the devils try to twist words to make it a weapon for their gain.

Saturday Dec 29, 2018
Saturday Dec 29, 2018
IN THIS REPEAT: A reminder of my 3rd episode of "200 Seconds in Hell" that is about humility.
Practicing humility can be a very humbling experience, one that might just lead to pride! At least that's what Wormwood is partly told he should try to make happen with his patient in The Screwtape Letters. In this third episode of "200 Seconds in Hell with C.S. Lewis" you'll be reminded about some of the ways the devils try to twist humility to make it a weapon for their gain.

Saturday Dec 22, 2018
Saturday Dec 22, 2018
IN THIS REPEAT: The debut episode of my new short-term podcast series focusing on The Screwtape Letters. Includes links to the next three other shows.
Welcome to the premier episode of the podcast "200 Seconds in Hell with C.S. Lewis." It focuses on highlighting the classic book The Screwtape Letters. The first show, however, serves more as an introduction to the type of information that will normally be covered. Being a podcast you need to click the link above to hear it. For the moment I'm including it on my All About Jack podcast feed, so you can follow it either on my Podbean page or via my iTunes feeds (see links below).
This series will be short-term. That is, while I'm not sure how many episodes will be done, it won't go on forever.

Interview from Fulfill Your Ministry (William O'Flaherty)
Tuesday Dec 18, 2018
Tuesday Dec 18, 2018
Recently (Nov. 2018) I was a guest on a local radio show host by John Losh that is based near Kansas City. On his weekly show, called Fulfill Your Ministry, he interviewed me about C.S. Lewis in general, while also briefly talking about my books. As noted in the recorded introduction, I did not know what John's questions would be, nor did I know what quotes believed to be by Lewis he would share. I initially missed one fake Lewis quote, but realized it during the stations break and corrected the oversight. However, he shared the following quotation, and I didn't realized while we were recording that it was a paraphrase of Lewis, and actually not by Lewis:
"Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another: 'What! You too? I thought I was the only one.'"
The follow is the CORRECT quotation:
“Friendship ... is born at the moment when one man says to another "What! You too? I thought that no one but myself . . .”
― C.S. Lewis, The Four Loves
Of course, some may say (and I talk about this more in my book, The Misquotable C.S. Lewis) that there are only a few minor changes. I count nine changes (seven are word changes) out of twenty-four elements; so you could say 62.5% of it is a Lewis quote!

(Re-Post) WRL03 - The Great Divorce
Sunday Dec 16, 2018
Sunday Dec 16, 2018
IN THIS REPEAT: A variety of guest tell about The Great Divorce and why you should read or re-read it.
This podcast, part of an occasional feature to encourage you to read material from Lewis, focuses on one of the shortest works by him (excluding essays, of course). The Great Divorce was first released in weekly installments in The Guardian before published in 1946. If you have never read this fictional work then you will be pleasantly surprised about how much truth can be learned from the experiences of the characters! The guests sharing their thoughts are (in order of appearance): Dennis Beets, Gina DalFonzo, James Motter, and Brenton Dickieson.

IN THIS REPEAT: My last short talk (paper) at Taylor University...it's about my book, The Misquotable C.S. Lewis.
---------
I gave the following short talk on Friday, June 1, 2018 at the Taylor University Colloquium. My brief presentation was part of a variety of academic papers that were presented. The full title of my talk was Surprised By Misquotes: Unexpected Findings from The Misquotable C. S. Lewis. In it, I share some of the unusual details from my years of researching quotations credited to Lewis that he did not write. This talk, however, only gives a small snapshot of what is in the book.

How to be a Christian & How to Pray (Zach Kincaid)
Tuesday Dec 04, 2018
Tuesday Dec 04, 2018
New and old readers of C.S. Lewis should find interesting the recent release (2018) of two collections of previously released material built around a theme. The following interview is with Zach Kincaid, the person who made the selections for both books.
How To Be A Christian is a somewhat awkwardly worded title for a collection that is about what Lewis has written about understanding the Christian life and how to practically apply one's faith. The other book, How to Pray makes more sense as a title, as it brings together the variety of writings from Lewis on prayer.
