Saturday Apr 22, 2017
Saturday Apr 22, 2017
IN THIS REPEAT: An earlier program from 2012 about a lost story that is a different version of one already known.
This book interview is from 2012, but it had not yet been featured here since changing the podcast audio hosting. It is a conversation with Dr. Charlie W. Starr and his book Light: C.S. Lewis's First and Final Short Story. It tells the story of how a manuscript surfaced that appeared to be a different version of a short story called "The Man Born Blind." The book reveals the results of his investigation and includes several interpretations of "Light." The interview was recorded at the 2012 C.S. Lewis Colloquium at Taylor University.

Thursday Apr 20, 2017
Thursday Apr 20, 2017
IN THIS REPEAT: An interview with Dr. Chris Armstrong about his book Medieval Wisdom for Modern Christians.
What's the first thing that comes to your mind when you think about the Middle Ages? Maybe it would be better to ask when was the last time you even thought about the Ages? Probably not too recently. However, Dr. Chris R. Armstrong believes it's very important to consider this period of time. In fact, it's an age that C.S. Lewis was very familiar with and also encouraged others to consider. In Medieval Wisdom for Modern Christians Dr. Armstrong details a variety of areas every Christian should be open to learning about that can enhance one's spiritual growth.

Friday Apr 14, 2017
Friday Apr 14, 2017
IN THIS REPEAT: Dr. Don King talks about his biography on Ruth Pitter, a friend of Lewis.
The women surrounding C.S. Lewis is often a mystery to even the serious reader of his works. Apart from Lewis' mother and wife, Ruth Pitter stands as one of the most significant women in his life. You might know she was a poet, but did you know how much she helped Lewis with his poetry? Also, was there more than a friendship interest between her and Lewis? Dr. Don King explores her life in Hunting the Unicorn: A Critical Biography of Ruth Pitter. There has been a recent interest in exploring the females in Lewis' life so it seemed a good time to learn more about her. Dr. Crystal Hurd fills in as guest host to interview Don.

Monday Apr 10, 2017
Monday Apr 10, 2017
IN THIS REPEAT: My last all new show, about the book From Atheism to Christianity.
C. S. Lewis is most known today as a famous Christian who wrote books like The Chronicles of Narnia and Mere Christianity. You may even know that before his conversion he struggled with NOT wanting to become a Christian. But how much do you know about that struggle. In this podcast interview, Dr. Joel D. Heck shares about his new title that is an insightful and easy to follow recount of Lewis' return to the his earlier faith. The book is called From Atheism to Christianity: The Story of C. S. Lewis. It draws upon extensive research Heck has done and made available on his website.

(Re-Post) Douglas Gresham Interview (2013)
Monday Apr 03, 2017
Monday Apr 03, 2017
IN THIS REPEAT: Interview with Douglas Gresham, stepson of C.S. Lewis that was recorded in late 2013.
I'm reposting an interview I did with Douglas Gresham (one of C.S. Lewis's stepsons) in late September, 2013 for three reasons. First, a few months ago I switch where I hosted my podcasts and I hadn't yet posted it there and secondly, today (11/29) is the 116th anniversary of Lewis's birth. Finally, while I later did a post with a transcript of this interview, I felt this would be a good chance to make that available in the same post (see link below). At the time I spoke with Gresham he had made a visit to Asbury University and word of the plans for the next Narnia movie hadn't been announced.

(Re-post) Introducing Why Read Lewis
Saturday Apr 01, 2017
Saturday Apr 01, 2017
IN THIS REPEAT: A new series on why reading Lewis himself is important. This debut features six different experts.
************************
Welcome to a new occasional podcast series designed to encourage you to read books that C.S. Lewis wrote (or edited). Even those who have read a variety of works by him are surprised to learn he wrote more than forty during his lifetime. Additionally, there are numerous books (mostly essay collections) created after his death. As you are likely aware, Lewis wrote in a variety of styles or genres. How many have you read? This new podcast will usually focus on a SINGLE work by Lewis with between three to five individuals sharing thoughts about it. However, because this episode introduces the series, it has comments on six DIFFERENT titles (as noted in the picture). Dr. Michael Ward, Brenton Dickieson, Sørina Higgins, Dr. Crystal Hurd, Dr. Jerry Root and Mark Neal share in this introductory show.
