(Re-Post) Faun‘s Bookshelf Mini-series - Episode 6
Friday Nov 12, 2021
Friday Nov 12, 2021
IN THIS REPEAT: Part 6 of a 6 part mini-series on THE FAUN'S BOOKSHELF.
The following is the sixth and final show in a mini-series of podcast interviews on The Faun's Bookshelf. The previous episode provided an in-depth look at the third part of the book. This show goes into more detail about the fourth and final part of the book and also gives a short summary of the earliest shows. As before, Dr. Charlie Starr, the author of The Faun's Bookshelf returns to talk with Dr. Sarah Waters and William O'Flaherty. Again, in this episode, in addition to a brief summary at the end, you will gain a better understanding of the impact Northernness had on Lewis and encounter "an interpretive mystery of mythic proportions."

Wednesday Nov 10, 2021
IN THIS REPEAT: My 2013 interview with Colin Duriez on his biography on Lewis.

Colin Duriez is what you might call "an expert to the experts." He is among the top writers/scholars on not only C.S. Lewis, but also J.R.R. Tolkien. Just releasing now is his book C.S. Lewis: A Biography of Friendship. William O'Flaherty spoke with him about this title and why he chose to portray the life of Lewis through his friends.

(Re-post) WRL02 - Dymer
Thursday Oct 28, 2021
Thursday Oct 28, 2021
IN THIS REPEAT; From my series about why you should read Lewis; this one about his poem Dymer.
This podcast focuses on one of the lesser-known works by C.S. Lewis; a long narrative poem entitled Dymer. This show is part of an occasional series indirectly begun in 2016 and officially kicked off this year, 2017. The series is called "Why Read Lewis," and the aim is to encourage you to read or re-read works written by Lewis. Today's program features just three individuals reflecting and/or summarizing Dymer. They are Dr. Jerry Root, Dr. Crystal Hurd and Dr. Don King.
Dymer was first published in 1926, prior to Lewis becoming a Christian and was later reprinted in 1950.

Tuesday Oct 26, 2021
Tuesday Oct 26, 2021
IN THIS REPEAT: A variety of guests tell about The Great Divorce and why you should read or re-read it.
This podcast, part of an occasional feature to encourage you to read material from Lewis, focuses on one of the shortest works by him (excluding essays, of course). The Great Divorce was first released in weekly installments in The Guardian before being published in 1946. If you have never read this fictional work then you will be pleasantly surprised about how much truth can be learned from the experiences of the characters! The guests sharing their thoughts are (in order of appearance): Dennis Beets, Gina DalFonzo, James Motter, and Brenton Dickieson.

IN THIS REPEAT - Here is the final part of a chat about The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe: book vs. 2005 movie.
= = = =
This is the second and final part of an episode exploring how well the 2005 Hollywood version of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe compares with the book that was published in 1950. My guests are Dr. Crystal Downing, co-Director of the Marion E. Wade Center at Wheaton College and Dr. Charlie Starr who teaches at Alderson Broaddus University. Both understand that sometimes book adaptations get it right and sometimes they don't. Find out their thoughts on Andrew Adamson's version of the first published Narnia story.

(Re-Post) The Heart of Light (Dr. Charlie Starr)
Friday Oct 15, 2021
Friday Oct 15, 2021
IN THIS REPEAT: I usually don't stray too far from material related to Lewis, but here's somewhat of an exception. A fictional work by a Lewis scholar that had inspiration from him.

I'm sharing an interview from respected C.S. Lewis scholar Dr. Charlie Starr, but it's not directly about Lewis. However, Charlie does announce news about upcoming articles related to Lewis towards the end of the show. However, the main focus is on a brand new fictional book that is influenced in part by Lewis and done in the vein of his Science Fiction trilogy. The book is called The Heart of Light: A Tale of Solomon Star and it is the first of what should be many great adventures. This is also different in another way, I had Dr. Crystal Hurd, a frequent guest on All About Jack conduct the interview. As you may remember she actually did another interview for me in 2013. It was a brief visit with Dr. Malcolm Guite.

IN THIS REPEAT: Learn about David Payne and the variety of plays he has done, including "An Evening with C.S. Lewis."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Many people wish they could meet someone famous like C.S. Lewis in order to learn about their life firsthand. But, because he died back in 1963 (on the same day U.S. President Kennedy was killed) that's not possible, or is it? The following is a podcast interview with David Payne who has portrayed Lewis on stage for over 20 years. "An Evening with C.S. Lewis," is actually only one of several plays David has produced (follow the link to his main website to learn about the others). David covers Lewis's life in an entertaining way and has done over 1,000 performances of the one-man show.
