This book interview is from 2012, but it had not yet been featured here since changing the podcast audio hosting. It is a conversation with Dr. Charlie W. Starr and his book Light: C.S. Lewis's First and Final Short Story. It tells the story of how a manuscript surfaced that appeared to be a different version of a short story called "The Man Born Blind." The book reveals the results of his investigation and includes several interpretations of "Light." The interview was recorded at the 2012 C.S. Lewis Colloquium at Taylor University.

The Faun's Bookshelf is an interesting title that explores, as part of the subtitle reveals, "Why Myth Matters." Dr. Charlie Starr, the author, uses books C.S. Lewis mentions on Mr. Tumnus's bookshelf as the framework to examine what myth means and how it teaches us about reality. This interviewed was recorded on the campus of Taylor University the day before the 11th Frances W. Ewbank Colloquium, where he gave one of the keynote talks. Even though Charlie goes into a lot of deal about his book in this interview, you will learn even more about myth by purchasing his book (direct link given below). Dr. Sarah Waters joins William O'Flaherty as a guest co-host to help explore "why myth matters" from the perspective of C.S. Lewis. The debut episode provides an overview of the first half of Charlie's book and includes understanding why myths are worth exploring and how Lewis used them as a gateway to knowing truth.

As the title suggests, the focus is on the home life of Lewis, so the spotlight is more on his family; his brother Warnie, his wife, Joy, and his parents. Articles written in this issue include those by Crystal Hurd, Paul E. Michelson, Abigail Santamaria, Harry Lee Poe, Andrew Lazo, and Joe Ricke.

2015 has seen the release of several books on, or related to, the Inklings. Are you ready for the most unique among them? Bandersnatch: C. S. Lewis, J. R. R. Tolkien, and the Creative Collaboration of the Inklings is a forthcoming title (at the time of this post) due out by the end of November. William O'Flaherty caught up with Dr. Diana Glyer in late March at the annual CSLIS conference and chatted with her about the book. It's an adaptation of her previous book about the Inklings, but this one focuses on the creative and collaborative process among the friends and challenges all to become better writers. The book is complemented with original illustrations by James Owen. It was hoped to released this interview months ago, but only recently did the book become available for pre-order; so follow the link below to make sure you get it as soon as it is released!

Dr. Diana Glyer is a professor of English at Azusa Pacific University. When her The Company They Keep came out several years ago it was instantly recognized as a great work on the Inklings. Listen as William O'Flaherty spoke with her about this landmark book in an interview from 2012 before she was one of the guests at a retreat by the C.S. Lewis Foundation. IN THIS REPEAT: Don King discusses two books - one he wrote about Joy Davidman and the other a volume of poems from her that he edited.

2015 is the 100th anniversary of the birth of Joy Davidman, C.S. Lewis's wife. It just so happens that Dr. Don King has two new books this year (one not yet released at the time of this posting) related to her. A Naked Tree (the one currently available) is actually edited by Don and is a collection of nearly all her poems. The majority of them had never been published before. The other book (releasing in September) is Yet One More Spring and is the first comprehensive study of the poetry, nonfiction and fiction that Joy Davidman wrote. Learn more about them from the conversation that William O'Flaherty had with Don and hear a couple of Joy's poems.

This is the second of a two-part episode featuring highlights from the 2021 Inklings Weekend that was held in Montreat, NC at Montreat College from July 9-11. Previously, two talks given by Dr. Devin Brown were shared. This time highlights from addresses given by Dr. Hal Poe and Dr. Don King are presented. The theme of the weekend was "The Radio Broadcasts at Eighty; A Celebration of Mere Christianity." However, only the first excerpt from Dr. Hal Poe actually related to that theme. His talk was “Mere Christianity as Personal Testimony.” After about the first 15 minutes of his nearly hour-long presentation, is a message from Dr. Don King, who has been working on a biography of Warnie Lewis, C.S. Lewis's brother. You'll hear some of the key things Don learned about Warnie.
