Many books came out in 2013 on C.S. Lewis (the 50th anniversary of his death). Two alone actually came from Colin Duriez. I’m repeating the interview I did about his second because my previous place of hosting my audio files no longer has it there. The book is called The A – Z of C.S. Lewis: A Complete Guide to His Life, Thoughts and Writings. It takes an encyclopedic approach to the topic and thus provides a person to aspects of Lewis’s life and writings that might be left unnoticed. In this interview Colin provides details about the layout of the book and shares some selections from it.

DiscussingMereChristianity.jpgSaying Mere Christianity is a book that has influence millions of people would not only be obvious, but also an understatement! Yet, despite it's a nearly universal appeal, there are those who have difficulty "getting into it." This might be because the material is over 70 years old (they were first radio talks in the 1940's) and they were mostly aimed at a British audience. That was part of the motivation behind the creation of Discussing Mere Christianity that is available as an eight-part video and study guide (each can be purchased separately or together). The DVD is hosted by Eric Metaxas and the study guide was written by Dr. Devin Brown. While not an in-depth study, it focuses on key aspects of Lewis's landmark book. Various experts lead the actual sessions that are just under 25 minutes. They are Dr. Alister McGrath, Dr. Jerry Root, Philip Yancey, Dr. Diana Glyer, Dr. Joseph Pearce and Dr. Devin Brown.

"Hamlet: The Prince or the Poem?" is an essay from the academic side of C.S. Lewis. However, even if you are less interested in this type of material, you will still find some useful information from what he discusses.
This is part of an occasional podcast series of "essay chats." Dr. Sarah Waters speaks with William O'Flaherty about the essay. Currently, Sarah is an honorary junior research fellow at the University of Buckingham.
While this essay was first given as a talk in 1938, it was also a lecture he gave in 1942 at the Annual Shakespeare Lecture of the British Academy. Currently, it can be best found in Selected Literary Essays. As with other "essay chats," the purpose of focusing on a single essay is to encourage you to read (or re-read) it and other essays by him that are often neglected.

2019_Gresham_2.jpgBack in 2013, I did my first interview with Douglas Gresham (stepson of C.S. Lewis). What follows is a new conversation I had with him that occurred in early November 2019 at an event hosted by the Presbyterian Heritage Center at their International Symposium on C. S. Lewis. The reason for the delay in my posting of it is I only received a copy of it less than a week ago. There are two things to note about this interview. One, it had already been established prior to the interview that there was not anything new to report about the progress of the deal with Netflix, and secondly, there had already been a general interview with him by Dr. Don King earlier at the event (see link below to watch it). The focus of my conversation was mostly on the Narnia books and films.
