(Re-Post) The Narnia Code Series 02 (Shows 4-5)
Friday May 05, 2017
Friday May 05, 2017
IN THIS REPEAT: The second of five podcasts exploring The Narnia Code with Dr. Michael Ward.
This is the second episode in the re-packaged series on The Narnia Code. It combines what was previously the fourth and fifth episodes. Back in 2012 I had the privilege to interview Dr. Michael Ward for a series of thirteen episodes to discuss his book The Narnia Code. With me to help co-host the show was Dr. Holly Ordway. Due to the series being in so many parts I was reluctant to re-post it, but this year (2015) is not only the 65th anniversary of the publication of the first Narnia story, but also the 10th anniversary of the first Hollywood version of the Narnia movies. But, as noted, I decided to combine two or more shows for this posting. The podcast today, as noted is the second in the new series, and it covers the fourth and fifth chapters from The Narnia Code; they deal with the first two published Narnia books and reveal the specific "code" that Dr. Ward discovered. If you haven't listened to the last episode that lays the background information about his approach, then be sure to follow the link below to give it a listen. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

(Re-Post) The Narnia Code Series 01 (Shows 1-3)
Thursday May 04, 2017
Thursday May 04, 2017
IN THIS REPEAT: Revisiting the re-release of my Narnia Code series with Dr. Michael Ward; episodes 1-3 in one podcast.
Back in 2012 I had the privilege to interview Dr. Michael Ward for a series of thirteen episodes to discuss his book The Narnia Code. With me to help co-host the show was Dr. Holly Ordway. Due to the length of the series I had hesitated to re-release it even though I change my podcast hosting location. However, because in 2015 it was the 65th anniversary of the publication of the first Narnia story I felt it was a good time; especial when I decided to combine several episodes to make it into a five-part series. What follows is the first three programs where the initial three chapters from the book are explored to set the stage for Dr Ward's discovery.

WRL01 - The Last Battle
Tuesday May 02, 2017
Tuesday May 02, 2017
This podcast focuses on The Last Battle and is part of a new series that I "accidentally" began in 2016. It was then that I gathered together a handful of individuals giving a testimony on a particular work by C.S. Lewis. It started with the fact that The Screwtape Letters first came out in weekly installments in 1941 and I wanted to honor this landmark and encourage people to read or re-read that book. Later I realized that it would be fruitful to spotlight EACH of Lewis' works that way. So, I began to record a variety of individuals on a few books that had similar landmark anniversaries last year. This project was delayed and then I realized there was no need to select works based on a particular anniversary of publication.
It may seem odd to begin a spotlight on one of the Narnia books by presenting testimonies on The Last Battle. This title was selected initially because last year was the 60th anniversary of its release. So, I already had enough people recorded to release the show and thought why not go ahead and share it! On the show today (in order of appearance) is: Christin Ditchfield Lazo, Dennis Beets, Gina Dalfonzo, Dr. Holly Ordway and Dr. Michael Ward.

Sunday Apr 30, 2017
Sunday Apr 30, 2017
IN THIS REPEAT: interview about Live Like a Narnian.
Here's an interview first released in 2013, but not shared again since my podcast hosting changed. It's a book interview about Live Like a Narnian, a title from Joe Rigney. The subject obviously deals with Narnia, but it looks at it from the standpoint of Christian discipleship. Joe is from Bethlehem College and Seminary and was one of the speakers at the recent Desiring God conference on C.S. Lewis. This is essentially the same recording from three years ago so there isn't a mention of my book about The Screwtape Letters, so be sure to follow the link below to learn more!

Sunday Apr 23, 2017
Sunday Apr 23, 2017
IN THIS REPEAT: My last new episode (#6) of 200 Seconds in Hell about a secret the devils hope you don't know.

Lewis" points you to the information told to Wormwood to help you overcome the schemes of the devils.
2017 is the 75th anniversary of when The Screwtape Letters was first published. So, why not read it again! And consider getting my enhanced study guide to help you enjoy it even more. Get a free 20 page PDF sample of my book via ScrewtapeCompanion.com.

Saturday Apr 22, 2017
Saturday Apr 22, 2017
IN THIS REPEAT: An earlier program from 2012 about a lost story that is a different version of one already known.
This book interview is from 2012, but it had not yet been featured here since changing the podcast audio hosting. It is a conversation with Dr. Charlie W. Starr and his book Light: C.S. Lewis's First and Final Short Story. It tells the story of how a manuscript surfaced that appeared to be a different version of a short story called "The Man Born Blind." The book reveals the results of his investigation and includes several interpretations of "Light." The interview was recorded at the 2012 C.S. Lewis Colloquium at Taylor University.

Thursday Apr 20, 2017
Thursday Apr 20, 2017
IN THIS REPEAT: An interview with Dr. Chris Armstrong about his book Medieval Wisdom for Modern Christians.
What's the first thing that comes to your mind when you think about the Middle Ages? Maybe it would be better to ask when was the last time you even thought about the
Ages? Probably not too recently. However, Dr. Chris R. Armstrong believes it's very important to consider this period of time. In fact, it's an age that C.S. Lewis was very familiar with and also encouraged others to consider. In Medieval Wisdom for Modern Christians Dr. Armstrong details a variety of areas every Christian should be open to learning about that can enhance one's spiritual growth.

(Re-Post) Ruth Pitter Biography (Dr. Don King)
Friday Apr 14, 2017
Friday Apr 14, 2017
IN THIS REPEAT: Dr. Don King talks about his biography on Ruth Pitter, a friend of Lewis.
The women surrounding C.S. Lewis is often a mystery to even the serious reader of his works. Apart from Lewis' mother and wife, Ruth Pitter stands as one of the most significant women in his life. You might know she was a poet, but did you know how much she helped Lewis with his poetry? Also, was there more than a friendship interest between her and Lewis? Dr. Don King explores her life in Hunting the Unicorn: A Critical Biography of Ruth Pitter. There has been a recent interest in exploring the females in Lewis' life so it seemed a good time to learn more about her. Dr. Crystal Hurd fills in as guest host to interview Don.

Monday Apr 10, 2017
Monday Apr 10, 2017
IN THIS REPEAT: My last all new show, about the book From Atheism to Christianity.
C. S. Lewis is most known today as a famous Christian who wrote books like The Chronicles of Narnia and Mere Christianity. You may even know that before his conversion he struggled with NOT wanting to become a Christian. But how much do you know about that struggle. In this podcast interview, Dr. Joel D. Heck shares about his new title that is an insightful and easy to follow recount of Lewis' return to the his earlier faith. The book is called From Atheism to Christianity: The Story of C. S. Lewis. It draws upon extensive research Heck has done and made available on his website.
