(Re-Post) Silver Chair Movie Announcement 2013 (2015r)
Thursday Apr 14, 2016
Thursday Apr 14, 2016
Back in late 2013 it was officially announced that The Silver Chair would be the next book made in the series of Narnia movies. Around the time I had been producing a special series of podcasts with the help of Paul Martin from NarniaFans.com that promoted the reading of the Narnia books. As a result I gather him and several Lewis scholars together to discuss this news. Since that time not much progress has been made on the movie, other than a recent video from Douglas Gresham stating the script is near completion. This lead me to realized that much of what was said by my guests in October 2013 is still relevant. Those guests were Drs. Bruce Edwards, Charlie Starr, Crystal Hurd and Devin Brown, along with Paul Martin.

(Re-Post) Shining Light on Screwtape’s Darkest Secret (William O'Flaherty)
Tuesday Apr 12, 2016
Tuesday Apr 12, 2016
Yesterday I share the other three talks from the Inklings Retreat weekend and so I thought I'd repeat my talk about Screwtape's Secret Weapon based on material from my first book.
I just gave the following talk on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at the Inklings Fellowship Weekend Retreat that was held in Montreat, NC at Montreat College. It was also the public debut of my first book C.S. Lewis Goes to Hell: A Companion and Study Guide to The Screwtape Letters. While I do give a summary of the unique aspects of my book, the main focus of the talk is about the devils' secret weapon that is mentioned in nearly all of the letters. My book just list them, but this presentation provides more details and gives a practical application to one's life. Visit my website to contact me about giving this talk or a three or four part presentation on all of the places this weapon is mentioned or alluded to.

Thursday Apr 07, 2016

There is no shortage of opinions about the three films based on The Hobbit. Whether you love them or hate them, have you considered if they are can be considered good movies even if they are not faithful adaptations? Also, how close do they come to presenting the core themes of the book itself? In this second and final part part William O'Flaherty is again joined by Dr. Charlie Starr, Dr. Crystal Hurd and Brenton Dickieson to discuss whether or not one can still enjoy the movies despite their imperfections.

In book form The Hobbit has been available for nearly 80 years, but the third and final movie installment was just released late last year. William O’Flaherty is joined by Dr. Charlie Starr, Dr. Crystal Hurd and Brenton Dickieson to discuss whether or not one can still enjoy the movies despite their imperfections. This FIRST of two part discussion starts off with considering whether or not the three movies as a whole are better than the individual parts.

Some Lewis readers are unaware that he wrote poetry (or at best are uninterested in it). Dr. Don King, editor of The Collected Poems of C.S. Lewis: A Critical Edition, believes such individuals are missing out on not only gaining a better understanding of the author, but they are also depriving themselves of some great writings. William O'Flaherty spoke with him about the scope of this new book (scheduled to released January 7, 2015) that brings together nearly all of the poetry of C.S. Lewis.
