Because of unforeseen delays in posting the second part of my 2015 recap I decided to re-share last year's recaps that review the shows from 2014. So, the following is the first of those two podcasts:

I had thirty-four new shows posted in 2014 (thirty six if you count this and next week's show!). The following is the first of a two part recap/reflection on the programs that were released in the last year. This segment spotlights shows done through July of this year before I changed the location of the hosting of All About Jack. At this time not all shows that was released at the old location has been re-released at the new site. Thus, a few excepts I share in this recap isn't available at this time, but will be in the next few weeks and links will be added later. Feel free to leave a comment telling me about your favorite show or make a suggestion of a potential guest.

Here's another re-post that some of you might not have caught when I posted it back in July, 2015

Saying Mere Christianity is a book that has influence millions of people would not only be obvious, but also an understatement! Yet, despite it's nearly universal appeal, there are those who have difficulty "getting into it." This might be because the material is over 70 years old (they were first radio talks in the 1940's) and they were mostly aimed at a British audience. That was part of the motivation behind the creation of Discussing Mere Christianity that is available as an eight-part video and study guide (each can be purchased separately or together). The DVD is hosted by Eric Metaxas and the study guide was written by Dr. Devin Brown. While not an in-depth study, it focuses on key aspects of Lewis's landmark book. Various experts lead the actual sessions that are just under 25 minutes. They are Dr. Alister McGrath, Dr. Jerry Root, Philip Yancey, Dr. Diana Glyer, Dr. Joseph Pearce and Dr. Devin Brown.

2015 was a busier year than even last year for releasing brand new shows, or episodes that had never been posted on the AAJ hosting location. Nearly 40 shows fall under that category, as I released an average of more than one show a week when you count re-releases.

This is the fifth and final episode in the re-packaged series on The Narnia Code. It combines what was previously the eleventh, twelfth and thirteenth episodes. Back in 2012 I had the privilege to interview Dr. Michael Ward for a series of thirteen episodes to discuss his book The Narnia Code. With me to help co-host the show was Dr. Holly Ordway. Due to the series being in so many parts I was reluctant to re-post it, but because this year is not only the 65th anniversary of the publication of the first Narnia story, but also the 10th anniversary of the first Hollywood version of the Narnia movies I felt it was the perfect time to do so. As noted, I decided to combine three shows for this posting. It covers the last two chapters from The Narnia Code. The following relatively short podcast is about my book due out in March, 2016. It's called C.S. Lewis Goes to Hell: A Companion and Study Guide to The Screwtape Letters. This program is admittedly closer to self promotion than any other show I've done, however, I believe the work I've done in creating a book to help others enjoy The Screwtape Letters is something that my listeners want to know about. The following interview tells about one great way: visit the area where they lived and discuss their writings with those who know them well. Incredible news of a LOST recording of C.S. Lewis was mentioned as part of an upcoming interview with Dr. Hal Poe about An Inklings Week in Oxford. During the conversation it was revealed that Christianity Today will soon post an article about Hal's discovery of a previously unknown recording C.S. Lewis did before his radio talks on the BBC. When the article for Christianity Today post I'll post a link below. Also, be sure to catch the entire interview with Hal (and guest Dr. Don King) about the retreat in Oxford where you can hear the actual recording that was found. Learn more about a publication that comes out twice a year. It's called Journal of Inklings Studies and the founding editors, Dr. Judith Wolfe and Brendan Wolfe recently joined William O'Flaherty to talk about it. This interview focuses on providing a general introduction to this scholar journal and highlights the latest issue (from October 2015), along with giving some details about their special issues and a recent new publishing venture (Inklings Studies Supplements). Journal of Inklings Studies is published by The Oxford C.S. Lewis Society in collaboration with Charles Williams Society, Owen Barfield Literary Estate and G.K. Chesterton Library.

Back in 2012 I had the privilege to interview Dr. Michael Ward for a series of thirteen episodes to discuss his book The Narnia Code. With me to help co-host the show was Dr. Holly Ordway. Due to the length of the series I had hesitated to re-release it even though I change my podcast hosting location. However, because it is the 65th anniversary of the publication of the first Narnia story I felt it was a good time; especial when I decided to combine several episodes to make it into a five-part series. What follows is the first three programs where the initial three chapters from the book are explored to set the stage for Dr Ward's discovery.

Honoring the Legacy of Dr. Bruce Edwards

As this is posted most of you who are familiar with Dr. Bruce Edwards know he died unexpected on October 28, 2015. I learned of the news while attend the C.S. Lewis Foundation's Fall Retreat at Camp Allen. Many attending were close friends (professionally and personally) and so I records some brief thoughts with them. Then I caught up with a couple other people I knew were well acquainted with him to have them share some reflections as well. I'm sure I missed several who knew Bruce and had been on my show previously. Speaking of being on All About Jack, Bruce was a frequent guest and even this year he had been on a couple of two-part episodes (they are listed below). In additional to the link for this podcast, be sure to listen to the memorial service and the final podcast that Bruce did from his own online show.

This is the seventh and final show in a special series on the books in the Narnia series. Previously this program had not been share on All About Jack because it was created for another venture (that is now inactive). Returning to help co-host are Dr. Crystal Hurd and Paul Martin. Kevin Belmonte (author of The Quotable Chesterton, D.L. Moody: A Life and and other titles) is the special guest to explore the book The Last Battle. Feel free to leave questions or comments below.
