(Re-Post) Lewis Symposium 2019 Male Panel Discussion, pt. 1
Tuesday May 12, 2020
Tuesday May 12, 2020
IN THIS REPEAT: The first of a two-part panel discussion from November 2019 event in Montreat, NC.
What follows is a podcast of the first part of the panel discussion featuring the males who were speakers at C.S. Lewis: Influence & Relevance Today - An International Symposium of the Presbyterian Heritage Center (PHC) that was held at the Montreat Conference Center November 6-8, 2019. They were Drs. Don King, Jerry Root, David Downing, and Hal Poe. As noted in the introduction, this recording is from my own equipment and not from what the PHC recorded. Doing it this way was the quickest way to get the show out. The second part of this show should be posted a few days after this one (link will be below when it is available). Also, as any official video or other audio is made available then this page will be updated to reflect that information.

(Re-Post) C. S. Lewis and the Craft of Communication (Steven Beebe)
Saturday May 09, 2020
Saturday May 09, 2020
IN THIS REPEAT: My recent interview with Dr. Steven Beebe about his book dealing with Lewis as a Communicator.
- - - -
Communicating is something everyone does every day, but do you do it effectively? C.S. Lewis knew it was important to convey his ideas in a way for others to understand and many consider him a master at communications. In this podcast interview Dr. Steven Beebe, author of several textbooks related to that topic, explores why Lewis was an effective communicator. His book, new for 2020, is C. S. Lewis and the Craft of Communication. After many years of studying the topic, he found five principles that represent how and why Lewis was effective at communicating. The categories he created make up a clever phrase very apt for Lewis: "HI-TEA."

2019 Douglas Gresham Interview
Tuesday May 05, 2020
Tuesday May 05, 2020
Back in 2013, I did my first interview with Douglas Gresham (stepson of C.S. Lewis). What follows is a new conversation I had with him that occurred in early November 2019 at an event hosted by the Presbyterian Heritage Center at their International Symposium on C. S. Lewis. The reason for the delay in my posting of it is I only received a copy of it less than a week ago. There are two things to note about this interview. One, it had already been established prior to the interview that there was not anything new to report about the progress of the deal with Netflix, and secondly, there had already been a general interview with him by Dr. Don King earlier at the event (see link below to watch it). The focus of my conversation was mostly on the Narnia books and films.

Saturday May 02, 2020
IN THIS REPEAT - Here is the final part of a chat about The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe: book vs. 2005 movie.
= = = =
This is the second and final part of an episode exploring how well the 2005 Hollywood version of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe compares with the book that was published in 1950. My guests are Dr. Crystal Downing, co-Director of the Marion E. Wade Center at Wheaton College and Dr. Charlie Starr who teach at Alderson Broaddus University. Both understand that sometimes book adaptations get it right and sometimes they don't. Find out their thoughts on Andrew Adamson's version of the first published Narnia story.

Thursday Apr 30, 2020
Thursday Apr 30, 2020
IN THIS REPEAT: A show about Lewis' view on education with an interview with Dr. Joel Heck.
Back in 2012 I first released this podcast, however I've never shared it again since moving my hosting to Podbean in late 2014. So, for most of you this will be an interview you haven't heard before now. The author, Dr. Joel Heck, was featured not long ago for a book that just came out in 2017 (link below). Irrigating Deserts: C.S. Lewis on Education is the main focus of this conversation, but a few other topics are explored. Interestingly, Dr. Heck referred to the (then) forthcoming biography by Dr. Alister McGrath, which was released in 2013 and I did an interview with Dr. McGrath on it (link below).

Sunday Apr 05, 2020
Sunday Apr 05, 2020
IN THIS REPEAT: My 2013 interview with Colin Duriez on his biography on Lewis.

Colin Duriez is what you might call "an expert to the experts." He is among the top writers/scholars on not only C.S. Lewis, but also J.R.R. Tolkien. Just releasing now is his book C.S. Lewis: A Biography of Friendship. William O'Flaherty spoke with him about this title and why he chose to portray the life of Lewis through his friends.
